Developing a Fitness Plan with Paul Greenaway

We can all use a little helping hand when it comes to living healthfully. So when viewer Jennifer Hoermann set out on a "lifestyle makeover," she sought healthy-living advice from experts on "The Martha Stewart Show."

One of those experts was personal trainer Paul Greenaway of Synergy Fitness Club. He recommended this course of action, perfect for anyone looking to get off the couch and begin a new exercise regimen.

Treadmill
Try spending 10 to 15 minutes on the treadmill about three times a week. Over time, work your way up to 20-minute sessions. Try adding strength training by doing bicep curls with 4-pound weights for two minutes, then a minute rest, throughout the time you are on the treadmill.

Bench Step-Ups
Do three sets of step-ups on a bench with a 4-pound medicine ball pressed above your head. As you step up, bring up your other leg so you're standing on the bench. Step back down. Repeat 12 reps on each side.

Jumping Jacks
While holding a Swiss ball with both hands, do jumping jacks and move the ball up and down in front of you. Try three sets of 30 seconds each.
