Standing Torso Stretch

Can help create mental, emotional, and physical balance as it leads to a state of calm. Draws from the core, as in Pilates.

1. Standing with feet together and parallel, inhale as you lift the barre overhead, hands close together. Stretch your arms to your ears and exhale.

2. Inhale, and stretch over to your left, keeping your arms close to your ears and your inner thighs together.

3. Exhale as you straighten up. On the inhale, stretch over to the other side, keeping your arms stretched to your ears and your inner thighs together.

THank you for these invigorating exercises which I have begun to use each morning to 'wake-up' muscles used to only sitting in the chair watching tv. Because the weather has been too cold for the ususal morning walk, I was very pleased to see this site.
