Hands Up Not Handouts
Tess and Shane Sager explain how you can help women of the world support themselves through artisan crafts.
"Women of the world make super-cool stuff. We help sell it," say the philanthropic brother and sister team, Tess and Shane Sager, founders of the Hands Up Not Handouts initiative.
This unique organization helps women in Palestine and Rwanda find a voice -- and a means of supporting themselves -- through the design, production, and marketing of one-of-a-kind artisanal goods.
Traditional handicraft techniques, such as embroidery, are adapted to make modern, handmade jewelry and more, with all proceeds from the sale of the goods going back to the women.
