"At the age of 55, I decided to travel to Italy on my own. I found a language Web site that hooked me up with native Italians who could teach me in exchange for English lessons. Our interactions went from e-mails to online chats and then to video calls via Skype; we've become quite close. I've just returned from my fifth trip to Italy in three years! These friends have changed my life: I spend more time in Italy, and have secured online work and house-sitting jobs so I can earn money and stay for months at a time. What started out as a simple language exchange has led me to a new understanding of myself and the world around me."
