In the Forecast: Eco Umbrellas

Don't get caught in April's showers with any old umbrella. This season, keep dry with an ecofriendly one. These picks come from environmentally savvy companies that repurpose weather-resistant materials.

Made from reclaimed plastic bottles, the compact (1) Croyde and the curve-handled (2) Dayton from Radley ($50 and $60, respectively, shopcaravan.com) both pass a wind-tunnel test for durability, and you can recycle them through the company's take-back program. Totes' (3) Eco brella ($30, totes-isotoner.com) includes a 70-percent-recycled aluminum and steel frame, a bamboo handle, a hemp strap, and a canopy constructed from 100-percent-recycled plastic bottles. Perhaps the most resourceful company, Monsoon Vermont transforms detergent containers and other plastic trash from Indonesia into its one-of-a-kind (4) Recycled Umbrellas ($60).
