Week 3: Stay Fit

It's hard to overstate the importance of exercise, both cardio and strength-training. It builds energy, helps fend off diseases, reduces stress, and promotes sleep -- not to mention melts pounds. "Exercise builds self-confidence, too," says Mary Tedesco, Martha Stewart's trainer and the owner of Body Fit Personal Training Studio in Cross River, New York. "I see the transformation in people when they make the change in their lives."

But what if you know the benefits of exercise and still can't seem to make it a regular habit? In Week 3, we help you get on track. In addition to getting more cardio into your routine, we turn to Tedesco for targeted strengthening moves that will tone you from head to toe. You'll also personalize your exercise approach, thinking about those activities you actually enjoy. This is key to maintaining motivation going forward, especially when it comes to the aerobic fitness that best suits you (see Optimize Your Workout). We'll even help you carve out time in your hectic schedule to work out, paving the way for you to become the fit, strong, energized person you know you can be.
