Hair extensions are not just a popular trend for celebrities. Many women are finding extensions to be a quick and effective way to change their look, as well as being a viable option for those experiencing hair loss, says Marco Maranghello, senior stylist at John Barrett Salon.
On the show, he gave extensions to Sarah Mastracco, an in-house chef on "The Martha Stewart Show."
For extensions made of 100 percent human hair, Marco likes Great Lengths, which are attached using cold fusion through tiny keratin bonds. Unlike other types of extensions, they can be washed and brushed, and can be done on someone with as little as 1 1/2 inches of hair. The extensions will start to naturally shed at about eight weeks; the maximum amount of time they should be worn is three months.
