Our Team Alanna FinckeEditor-In-Chief Alanna Fincke's grandmother and grandfather, an editor and journalist, respectively, both played huge roles in her love for magazines. Visits with her grandparents were filled with spirited discussions and cutthroat Scrabble games, inspiring Alanna's love of words and language. She studied journalism and women's studies at Syracuse University, and started her career in magazines at Elle right after college. "I always thought women's magazines made you feel so bad about yourself. I wanted to work at one and try to do more positive stories." Alanna then continued her career at the celebrity-driven magazines Us Weekly and In Touch Weekly. To combat the stress of her fast-paced life as an editor, she began studying yoga and is now a registered yoga teacher. In February 2006, Alanna, who grew up on an organic farm and has practiced natural health her entire life, became the editor of Body+Soul, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia's magazine for healthy living. "This job is the perfect combination of my skills as an editor and my life's passions." Jennifer BarrettExecutive Editor For the past 20 years, executive editor Jennifer Barrett has worked as a writer and editor for book publishers and holistic living magazines such as Yoga Journal, Natural Health, and The Herb Quarterly. When she's not editing her heart out for Body+Soul, Jennifer loves spending time outdoors (running, kayaking, exploring new hiking trails) in the fine company of her college-sweetheart husband and three daughters. Kasey ClarkManaging Editor After more than 11 years working for an electrical-engineering magazine, Kasey Clark felt she needed a job that nurtured her body and her soul-so she joined the staff in 2008 as managing editor. Kasey manages the editorial process, from scheduling and tracking all content to overseeing the copyediting and research departments. Kasey enjoys playing with her dog Duffy (a cuddly Shih Tzu), reading, going to movies, checking out new restaurants, and traveling the world. Tania HannanDeputy Editor, Health As the magazine's lead health editor, Tania Hannan channels her longtime fascination with natural medicine and nutrition into the pages of Body+Soul. A graduate of Rosemary Gladstar's herbal apprenticeship, she is currently enrolled in the Advanced Herbal Training Program, where she studies with some of the country's leading herbalists. Tania is also a board member of United Plant Savers, a nonprofit dedicated to the protection of endangered medicinal plants. To maintain her own health, Tania speed-walks with friends and colleagues, eats her weight in leafy greens every week, sips nettle tea-and aspires to meditate. Donna CocoArticles Editor Articles editor Donna Coco covers fitness and health for Body+Soul-two passions in her life. She has worked in the magazine industry for more than 20 years, including five at Natural Health, where she was a senior editor and then managing editor. She's game for just about any form of physical activity, but she most enjoys taking long walks on the weekend with her husband and daughter. Hillary GeronemusSenior Editor Coming to Body+Soul from a six-year stint at Travel+Leisure, Hillary Geronemus edits stories on green, food, travel, and trends-a lucky job for someone who loves to explore new cultures and styles around the world (without leaving behind too many footprints). Originally from sunny South Florida, she now lives in Natick, Massachusetts, with her husband, Tom, and baby daughter, whom she plans on raising in the greenest possible way. Terri TrespicioSenior Editor Senior editor Terri Trespicio, who heads up Body+Soul's inner growth content, loves to explore the realms of spirituality and self-help-both as a writer and in her own life. In addition to developing and producing stories, Terri is a regular contributor to Martha Stewart Living Radio and has also appeared on The Martha Stewart Show, The Today Show, Fox News, and New England Cable News. Terri holds a Masters of Fine Arts degree from Emerson College in Boston and currently teaches in the publishing certificate program at Boston University. Sarah ForrestAssistant Editor In her position overseeing the Body+Soul research department, which fact-checks every sentence in the magazine, Sarah Forrest finds she learns volumes on-the-job, from the nutritional content of quinoa to the pros and cons of CT scans. An aspiring foodie and graduate of Wellesley College, Sarah originally hails from Montreal. She now lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with her boyfriend. Jill RussellAssistant Editor After spending a semester as a Body+Soul intern, Jill Russell became an official member of our staff in 2007. As assistant editor, Russell does research and fact-checking and edits our Natural Vet column. Her background in art and graphic design helps her lend a discerning eye to stories on eco-friendly fashion. A Detroit native, Russell enjoys film, music, running, yoga, and pilates, and holds a Master's in publishing, writing, and literature from Emerson College. She lives in Boston, in an extremely tiny apartment. Timothy MaherCopy Editor Timothy Maher is Body+Soul's copy editor and also edits the Books+Media column. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, he was a reporter for a daily newspaper in York, Pennsylvania, before moving to Boston to get his Master of Fine Arts in creative writing at Emerson College.
