Lemon, Sesame, and Garlic Hummus is a creamy, tangy dip made with blended chickpeas, garlic, tahini, fresh lemon juice, and a touch of sesame, delivering a flavorful, savory spread with a zesty kick.

Ingredients

  • 1-3 garlic cloves, peeled and crushed (adjust to taste)

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 2 tablespoons white sesame seeds, toasted

  • 2 tablespoons tahini

  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

  • 1 (15-ounce) can garbanzo beans (chickpeas), drained (reserve the liquid)

  • 1 tablespoon orange peel, minced

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons lemon peel, minced

  • Salt and white pepper, to taste

Directions

  • Prepare the sesame-garlic mix: In a small pan, toast the sesame seeds over medium heat until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Set aside. In a food processor, add the crushed garlic, toasted sesame seeds, and olive oil, and pulse until well combined.
  • Blend the hummus: Add the drained garbanzo beans, tahini, lemon juice, orange peel, and lemon peel to the food processor. Blend the mixture until smooth. If the hummus is too thick, add 1-2 tablespoons of the reserved liquid from the chickpeas, adjusting to reach your desired consistency.
  • Season: Taste the hummus and season with salt and white pepper to your preference. Pulse a few more times to blend in the seasoning evenly.
  • Serve: Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl and drizzle with a little extra olive oil if desired. Garnish with a sprinkle of extra toasted sesame seeds or lemon zest for added texture and flavor.
