Rethink Sweets and Seasonings
Look over last week's journal and suss out the trouble spots in your diet. If you've got a sweet tooth, try to satisfy it with fruit: Snack on in-season goodies such as clementines or kiwis, or savor the natural sweetness of a few dried apricots. If your sugar cravings are fierce, try a teaspoon of raw honey.
To survive a midafternoon slump without guzzling coffee or soda, brew up a cup of chai or green tea. And to curb salt cravings, turn up your food's flavor with fresh herbs and spices. Add cilantro to soups, spice up stir-fries with garlic and chile peppers, and season your salads with basil.
