UNICEF Tap Project

UNICEF Tap Project

Every day, 4,100 children die of water-related diseases, according to data from UNICEF, whose inspiring Tap Project works to bring clean and accessible water to millions around the world.

The Tap Project began in 2007 when a small group of restaurants asked their customers to donate $1 — enough to provide a child with safe water for 40 days — for the tap water they would normally enjoy for free.

Thousands of restaurants, dining patrons, and volunteers (including corporate, celebrity, and local government supporters) have joined the effort. How can you help?

  • Dine out at a registered UNICEF Tap Project restaurant during World Water Week, March 21 to 27, 2010, and donate $1 or more for the tap water that you normally get for free

  • Text “Tap” to 864233 (“UNICEF”) to make a $5 donation from your mobile phone

  • Donate online or register to become a UNICEF Tap Project volunteer at tapproject
